Bayer/Geosys in long-term diagnostics deal:
Bayer CropScience has agreed a "longer-term" deal with the French agricultural diagnostics company, Geosys (Toulouse), on developing information systems on weed infestation and plant diseases. "We believe that agricultural diagnostics is a very promising area," head of Bayer CropScience's global portfolio management, Dr Rudiger Scheitza, says. Information systems are being increasingly used to operate farms more effectively, the companies say. Extreme weather conditions are impacting on crop quality and yield more frequently, they add. The French company works internationally and has an office in the US.
