US non-payment approval cancellations
The US EPA is cancelling 370 pesticide registrations because of the non-payment of annual maintenance fees that were due on January 15th 2009. The routine cancellations affect 341 federal (FIFRA section 3) registrations and 29 special local need (section 24c) approvals. Maintenance fees were paid for 16,170 section 3 registrations, representing about 95% of those on file in December 2008. Fees were paid for 2,146 section 24c approvals, or about 84% of those on file. The EPA was authorised to collect $22 million in maintenance fees in fiscal 2009.
