Taminco to pursue EU re-registration of metam
Taminco intends to submit further data to gain EU re-registration for the fumigant, metam. The EU authorities recently decided not to include the active ingredient in Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414). However, concerns over the lack of alternatives prompted EU Ministers to allow certain uses to continue until December 31st 2014 ( Agrow No 573, p 11). This "exceptionally long" period of more than five years for essential uses will allow Taminco to submit confirmatory data that should answer the questions raised by the European Commission in view of a future Annex I inclusion, the company says. The major part of the data is already generated and ready, it adds.
