United Phosphorus' US maneb phase-out agreed
The US EPA has agreed to cancel the registrations of United Phosphorus’ products based on the ethylene bisdithiocarbamate (EBDC) fungicide, maneb. The company’s US subsidiary requested the move last year ( Agrow No 553, p 15). It can continue to sell or distribute stocks until December 31st 2009, with third-party sales allowed until stocks are exhausted. Third-party formulation is allowed until March 2010. United Phosphorus is seeking to extend the use of the EBDC fungicide, mancozeb, to crops previously served by maneb ( Agrow ibid).
