EU urged to protect minor-crop agchems
The EU must make greater financial and research investment to ensure the availability of agrochemicals for specialty crops and minor uses, say EU agricultural industry associations. They are concerned that the forthcoming imposition of stricter registration requirements will lead to the loss of essential active ingredients. Eight industry groups met regulators from the European Commission and EU member states in November to discuss for the first time the impact on minor crops of the new agrochemical registration regulation. They included the European Crop Protection Association, the European Seed Association, and farming and horticultural groups.
