Chinese first-quarter agrochemical output up 20%
The expansion of pesticide production in China is continuing with a strong start to 2007. Output amounted to 352,800 tonnes in the first three months, up by 20.4% on the same period in 2006, according to government figures quoted in China Chemical Reporter. Insecticides accounted for 39.8% of the total, followed by herbicides at 33.2% and fungicides at 9.6%. Herbicides have been the fastest growing category in recent years, but fungicides took this position in the first quarter, with output up by 31.8%.
