Rallis’ first-quarter sales decline 5%
Rallis India registered a 5% sales decline to Rs 1,633.3 million ($33.8 million at the current rate) in its first quarter ended June 30th 2009. Sales included agrochemicals, seed, nutrients and non-agricultural chemicals. Despite the sales dip, profits went up. Net profit more than doubled to Rs 94.2 million ($1.9 million) from the previous year’s Rs 42.3 million ($874,000). The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margin rose to 13%, an improvement of 3 percentage points over the previous year.
