EU hopes for summer deal on ED criteria

The European Commission hopes that an agreement may be reached in July on proposed criteria for identifying agrochemicals that are potential endocrine disruptors (EDs). “Good progress” was made at discussions with EU member states in the EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed at the end of May, a spokesperson from the Commission’s Health and Food Safety Directorate General told Agrow. The criteria would be based on the UN WHO definition of EDs, but have generated many disagreements over the past year.
