US approval for Easotic
The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Virbac's treatment for canine ear infections, Easotic. The prescription-only product contains hydrocortisone aceponate, miconazole and gentamycin, and is indicated for the treatment of otitis externa caused by the yeast Malassezia pachydermatis and the bacterium Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. It is applied topically to the ear at a dosage of 1 ml daily for five days. Virbac launched Easotic in Europe in 2009, where it is supplied with a pump applicator.
