Tin can manufacturer to open new factory in Spain

This article was originally published in Foodnews

MIVISA, Spain’s leading manufacturer of tinplate cans for food products, is to build a new production plant in Hungary. Mivisa has recently submitted a building permit application to set up a production plant on 20 000 square metres (on a six-hectare site) in the Tatabány-Környe Industrial Park (west of Budapest). The factory is to be launched in January 2012 and is planned to make one million cans a day. Mivisa operates six production facilities in Spain, and one each in Morocco, the Netherlands and Debrecen, Hungary where it employs 20 people. The facility will create 40 jobs. Mivisa, which manufactures standard-end, easy-open-end and twist-off-caps cans annually, had revenues of EUR520 million (USD750 million) in 2010.
