Top grade Kenyan tea prices rise

THE average price for top grade Kenyan tea rose slightly to $3.39 per kg at this week’s auction from $3.20 last week. Mombasa-based Africa Tea Brokers (ATB) said in its weekly report there was much less demand for 102,991 packages (6.6m kg), with 27,734 left unsold. Last week, 110,506 packages were offered, with 28,854 left unsold. ATB said Sudan, Kazakhstan and Russia bought more tea than last week, while Pakistan packers and Afghanistan bought less tea.
